Open Source Drug Discovery – a new initiative by CSIR

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has launched an innovative ‘Open Source Drug Discovery’ (OSDD) programme discover drug(s) against tuberculosis, malaria and kala-azar. Poor people in third world nations are generally afflicted by these diseases. Therefore, it is less lucrative to the business houses to develop drug against these diseases.

CSIR has proposed and set forth an open source mechanism to combat those diseases.  Go through the press release of CSIR to get more information about this initiative.

Any body – a student, a researcher, an organization can join this initiative at http://www.osdd.net. Free information, recent advances in scientific knowledge, models, etc. are free available under this umbrella.
