An interview with Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe, Chairman, AICTE

MHRD Innovation Cell had broadcast an interview of Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe on 22nd April 2019. From this interview we come to know about the present direction of technical education and what AICTE envisages for the students and the teachers. The pertinent views are enlisted below:

From the data gathered from the technical institutions under AICTE it is found that 50% of the final year students already got job in campus interview before the final year examination. It shows that our students have employ-ability in contrast to the media reports about some companies that  80% of the students of India are not employable. They require training when they join the industry.

In Smart India Hackathon 200 thousand students took the challenge to give ideas to solve various problems put forward by the industry and various government agencies. This means the students are employable.

Some special industries thinks that a fresh student will be able to deal with the specific skills of that industry from day-1, but in institutions we teach them concepts, fundamentals and principles in details, and ability to learn on their own and life-long learning. After joining the industry these students will just take a few days of breathing time to learn the nuances of the industry, the students will start getting engaged and then they may become more innovative than the older employees of that industry.

We should inculcate the followign virtues in our students – working in teams, working in interdisciplinary areas, fundamentals, values, ethics, time management
